How can I care for Leather?

While leather is extremely durable it does need to be cared for. Dirt, oils from your body, and perspiration can break through the top coat of leather. Regular cleaning will remove grime and prevent damage to your leather.

We recommend you only use products specifically developed for leather upholstery. Avoid all types of abrasive detergents, saddle soap, solvents and silicones.

Conditioners and protectants made specifically for leather are available. Conditioners replace oils in the leather that are lost with age, helping to retain the soft and suppleness of the leather. Protectants increase the life of your leather by acting as a film on the top surface of the finished leather. When you clean leather, the protectant is removed, together with its imbedded dust and soil. It is advisable to reapply protectant after each cleaning.

Can damaged leather be repaired?

Yes! Minor damage such as scuffs, scratches and small tears can be repaired, saving you the cost of reupholstering.

What kinds of leather are there?

Aniline
The most natural form of leather. It has a luxurious feel but can suffer from soiling, and fading due to light exposure.

Semi-Aniline
Very similar to aniline, semi-aniline has a pigmented finish applied to the top surface to ensure color consistency and resistance to liquids. This finish improves the wear-ability of the leather.

Nubuck
A top grain leather which has a slight nap effect produced by buffing the surface. It has the look and feel of suede but is far more durable.
